13- 14 Dec 25: It's a very merry Win-mas at the YDSC Christmas Open Meet . Wincanton had plenty of festive pool fun at the annual YDSC Christmas Meet, held on 13-14 Dec. Over two Christmassy days, our team of 21 swimmers took part in 88 events, gaining personal bests in 64. This included Matilda and Lilly who competed in their very first competition and gaining excellent times. Our top results included: Freddie winning Gold 🏅 in the 50 Br, 100 Br, 50 Fly and winning Bronze 🥉 in the 100 Fly; Ava won Silver 🥈 in the 200 Bk; Toby won Silver 🥈 in the 50 Br and 200 Br; Leyton won Silver 🥈 in the 100 Br and 200 Br; Sophie won Bronze 🥉 in the 50 Br; and Noah won Bronze 🥉 in the 100 IM. “All we want for Christmas is a PB… (and a warm pool)” 2 Nov 25: Swim England South-West Regional Championships. Wincanton had an awesome time at the Swim England SW Region’s Winter Championships. Freddie aced his technique in the 50m Breaststroke to finish with a best-ever time of 31.51s alongside the region’s best swimmers. 26 Oct 25: Wincanton's Spirit shows at the CoB Halloween Spooktacular. Swimmers from Wincanton put in an outstanding team performance, competing in the ‘Halloween Spooktacular' swim meet hosted by City of Bristol. This meet saw swimmers from around the country compete over the 2-day event held in the 50m Hengrove Pool in Bristol. 50 new PBs were obtained across the Squad, with medals won by April (3rd in 400 Fr) and Toby (3rd in 200IM and in the 100Bk). Wincanton thanks CoB, Swimmers and our Officials (Annabel and Liam) for making it a great event... 26 Oct 25: Wincanton Masters Impress at Swim England National Championships - 2025. Three Masters swimmers from Wincanton Swimming Club delivered outstanding performances at the Swim England Masters National Championships 2025, held from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October at the prestigious Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield. The event, which attracts top swimmers aged 18 and over from across the country, is known for its high level of competition and frequent record-breaking performances. Our swimmers rose to the challenge, bringing home a haul of medals and personal bests: Philippa had a phenomenal meet, showcasing her versatility and strength across multiple strokes:
Congratulations to all three swimmers! 26 Sep 25: Somerset County Development Meet - 2025. Wincanton had a fantastic weekend at the Somerset Development Meet, held at Millfield School's Swimming Complex on 25–26 September. Over the course of two action-packed days, 24 of our swimmers took part in 75 events, showing incredible determination and team spirit. Impressively, 67 of those swims resulted in new personal bests—a testament to the hard work and dedication of our athletes and coaches. Adding to the excitement, our swimmers brought home a total of 12 medals across various events. Congratulations to the following medalists: 🏅 Gold Medals
20 Jul 25: City of Bristol Summer Swim Festival. We've had an excellent weekend's swimming at the City of Bristol Summer Swim Festival - 70% of our results were new PBs, with plenty of medals too: Willow winning Gold (100Br) and Silver (50Br, 50Bk, 50 Fr), Noah winning Gold (50Bk), Silver (200 Bk) and Bronze (50 Fly), Toby winning Gold (50Br) and Tabitha winning Gold (50Fly) and Silver (50 Free). Well done swimmers. 12 Jul 25: Jurassic League 2025 - Wincanton brings home another trophy. Wincanton Swimming Club has kicked of a brilliant summer of swimming by securing 3rd place in this year’s Jurassic League. The competition, which brings together swim clubs from across the Somerset and Dorset region, saw Wincanton swimmers deliver outstanding performances and in each of the 4 galas, with the club finishing the series with a second place result at Bridport. Well done swimmers! 6 Apr 25: Somerset County Championships - 2025. A team of our Masters Swimmers participated as guests at the Cornwall County Masters Championships on 6 April. Through the fun-packed day Philippa gained Golds in the 50 Fly, 50 Breaststroke and 400IM; Nikki achieved Gold in the 50 Breaststroke and 200 Free, and Silver in the 50 Free; Adelle won Silver in the 100 Breaststroke and 100 IM, and Bronze in the 50 Free; and Pete gained Gold in the 50 Fly, 100 Free and 200 Free. Well done! 30 Mar 25: YDSC Spring Fling - 2025 At this year's 'Spring Fling', hosted by Yeovil District Swim Club at Millfield, our team of 20 swimmers enjoyed an outstanding weekend of competition. Excellent swimming saw PB's for all of our swimmers, with some medal winning performances and SW Regional Championships qualifying times gained. Well done to you all! 28 Feb 25: Somerset County Championships - 2025. Swimmers from Wincanton SC performed brilliantly at this year's County Championships, held at Millfield throughout Jan and Feb. This year saw record results for Wincanton, with more swimmers from the club qualifying for this year's event than ever before. Over a busy few weekends, dozens of new PBs, medals and fantastic experiences capped a well organised and fun event. We thank the organisers at Somerset ASA as well as the Officials, Coaches, Parents and Volunteers. 15 Dec 24: Wincanton have a tree-mendous time at the YDSC Christmas Open Meet. Wincanton's team of 28 Swimmers made a splash at this year's Yeovil District Swim Club Christmas Meet, held at Millfield on 14-15 Dec. Our strong team of swimmers achieved medals aplenty, gained new 'Personal Best' times and had great fun with the 'Christmas games' at the event. 16 Sep 24: Wincanton's Masters excel at Devon County Masters Meet. On Sunday Sep 15th, Wincanton Swimming Club’s Masters team achieved outstanding results at the Devon County Masters Meet, held at the Plymouth Life Centre. Competing against 36 teams, Wincanton finished in 9th place overall, with numerous personal bests (PBs) and medal-winning performances across the board. Peter Long led the charge with an incredible haul of gold medals, taking first place in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke (PB), 200m Freestyle (PB), and 100m Freestyle. Philippa O’Grady also dominated her events, securing gold in the 50m Backstroke (PB), 50m Breaststroke (PB), and 400m Individual Medley (PB). Emma Harris put in a stellar performance with a personal best in the 50m Backstroke, earning silver, alongside a bronze in the 50m Freestyle, silver in the 50m Breaststroke, and gold in the 100m Breaststroke. Nikki Hopkins shone with PBs in all her events, capturing silver in the 50m Freestyle, and gold in both the 50m and 100m Breaststroke. Adelle Kirby claimed bronze in the 100m Backstroke (PB), silver in the 50m Breaststroke, and silver in the 100m Freestyle, with a PB in the latter. Adele Parham rounded off the team's success with golds in the 200m Individual Medley (PB), 100m Individual Medley (PB), and 100m Freestyle (PB). The Wincanton Masters’ incredible medal count and top-10 finish highlight their commitment, teamwork, and established reputation in Masters swimming.
